For over 20 years a group of Polish scientists and engineers had been at the forefront of infrared detector technology in Europe. In the late 60's professor Józef Piotrowski demonstrated room-temperature operation of HgCdTe detectors at 10.6 µm. Having proved that this was possible, he introduced the world's first uncooled 10.6 µm HgCdTe detectors.
Developing detector technology he obtained over 50 patents. The scientists involved in the research and development of these detectors have formed VIGO System S.A.
VIGO System S.A. offers high quality detectors and accessories at competitive prices with prompt delivery. Since the establishment of VIGO System S.A., we have consistently provided our customers with state-of-the-art products combined with IR technology expertise. Our products are made with the user's applications in mind. Custom devices are readily available. These factors have made VIGO System S.A. a major supplier of detector components to the world-wide industrial and research market.
The Department of Electronics was found during the first months of the existence of the company as a consistent supplement to the offer of the detectors produced by the company. A special group of electronic and opto-electronic engineers, mechanical engineers and technicians had been designing and producing preamplifiers to be used in the detectors and optomechanical systems offered by the company.
In the following years the Department of Electronics developed new electronic systems making possible the detection of the presence of persons (linear scanners for protection of persons in the high-stacking stores in Germany), remote contact-less temperature measuring systems (its own version of pyrometers). The Department had been specializing in the research and development work for, among other things, the production of armament (nowadays, much work for the defense department is being carried out). The recent history of the Department covers the development and production of an inexpensive infrared camera of V-20 series, which makes possible the remote recording of temperature distribution.
Presentation of the Department of Electronics. In 1990 the Department of Thin Film Optics was found, engaged in the "improvement" of optical systems. The company has employed the best Polish specialists working both in designing, as well as development of interference production processes of thin coating films suited to the individual Customers' requirements. Our Company has been the first and for a long period a single producer of anti-reflection coatings and filtering coatings of glasses. It is also specializing in the production of optical elements for surgical lamps and professional optical systems. The products and services of VIGO System S.A. are now available internationally. VIGO-System's dealers supply detectors in many countries throughout the world, including Japan, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States and other countries.
VIGO System's detectors had been awarded in THE PHOTONICS CIRCLE OF EXCELLENCE AWARD in 1996. This award recognize the enterprising organizations and individuals that have over the years brought a steady stream of innovative, effective and forward looking products to the marketplace.
