We started the HYPERION project in August 2012 and its goal is to create a broad-spectrum system for identifying improvised explosives: “Hyperspectral Imaging IED and Explosives Reconnaissance System”.

The goal of the project is to develop and test a system concept for crime scene analysis. The HYPERION system will provide information about the type and amount of used explosive and point of detonation. Additionally, it will be possible to locate unexploded or suspicious materials at the site of the bomb attack.

The project consortium consists of the following companies and institutions: FOI (project coordinator), Aselsan, BKA, Turkish National Police, Fraunhofer IAF, Safran Morpho, Portendo, SKL, Selex, Tecnalia, TNO and VIGO System S.A.
