Business Development Account Manager (east and west USA)

Purpose: Due to rapid growth of the business and the expansion of the commercial sales organization into the US market, VIGO PHOTONICS CORPORATION, a wholly owned subsidiary of VIGO Systems SA is interviewing candidates to fill the critical roles of new business development account managers for the sales team. The positions will report directly to the President and CEO of VIGO PHOTONICS CORPORATION and will be responsible for managing the existing customer base as well as growing new customers and markets in conjunction with the company’s strategic plan.


Requirements:  A minimum of 6-8 years micro-electronics and/or optical component sales experience is necessary. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate experience in a business development capacity calling into targeted industry segments and generating brand new customers to the business. The position is technical helping solve application intensive problems for customers and the candidate must be able to demonstrate confidence in discussing opto-electronic systems, lasers and spectroscopic analysis. Direct experience in the environmental monitoring or medical device markets selling optical solutions is ideal. Independent thinkers, goal orientated and aggressive selling skills are highly attractive attributes.



  • Ability to call into industrial end users, research & development and academia settings
  • Support and grow existing customer base of IR Detectors in assigned region
  • Identify growth segments and target accounts consistent with the strategic plan
  • Network, cold call and develop channels into large key accounts with volume opportunity
  • Attend industry conferences and trade shows as required
  • Works cross functionally with R&D and Applications Engineering within Vigo Systems SA to generate complex proposals that solve customer needs
  • Travel within the region approximately 50% – 60% of the time. The position requires customer face time this is not a remote sales job
  • Follow up on sales leads in a prompt manner
  • Continuously further your working knowledge of semiconductor and optoelectronics technology


Locations: The east Business Development Account Manager should ideally reside in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic area. The west Business Development Account Manager needs to be based in California preferably southern CA or Bay area. The position will require 50%+ travel to meet the needs of the market within the defined region.


Compensation: An aggressive base salary including benefits is being offered for this senior level sales position. In addition, there will be an MBO based bonus after the first 12 months. Likely in year 2 the variable component of the compensation plan will migrate over to a commission component rather than a set bonus as the candidates gains traction in developing a strong individual sales pipelines. Note this is not a junior/entry level sales position as a seasoned sales professionals with relationship building experience is desired.
